The Side Eye Meme, also known as the Awkward Look Monkey Puppet, is a popular meme widely used for creating memes related to awkward situations. The meme features a monkey puppet named Kenta. The character is part of an old Japanese children's show called Ōkiku Naru Ko(Children Growing Up).

The meme was first made in 2016 and gained it popularity in the Spanish meme society soon after. The creator of the meme was Daniel Flores, who made the meme back in 2016. The original character didn't have the side eye, that was something Daniel created using Photoshop. But nonetheless, it has become one of the most used Meme templates in history. To this day, it still holds great popularity.
